
Erich W. Wolf II, MD, PhD

Dr. Erich W. Wolf II is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Wavegate Corporation, where he leads the company’s technology strategy and product innovation in next-generation neuromodulation systems. A board-certified neurosurgeon and Ph.D. biomedical engineer, Dr. Wolf brings a rare combination of deep clinical expertise, advanced engineering training, and decades of hands-on experience in spinal cord stimulation, neurotechnology, and implantable medical devices.
Dr. Wolf earned his PhD and MD from Tulane University, following earlier graduate and undergraduate training in biomedical engineering. He completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Tennessee, Memphis. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Throughout his career, Dr. Wolf has been at the forefront of neuromodulation innovation. He is the inventor or co-inventor on numerous issued and published U.S. and international patents spanning near-infrared reflectometry, spinal cord stimulation optimization, intracranial pressure monitoring, and implantable sensing and telemetry technologies.
At Wavegate, Dr. Wolf applies his clinical insight and technical depth to architect closed-loop neuromodulation platforms that integrate advanced sensing, data analytics, and intelligent control to improve patient outcomes. His leadership ensures that Wavegate’s technologies are grounded in real-world clinical needs while advancing the state of the art in implantable neurotechnology.
