D. Patrick O'Neal, PhD

CTO

Dr. Patrick O’Neal is Chief Technology Officer at Wavegate.  He received a Ph. D. in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University at College Station. Previously he was an associate professor in Biomedical Engineering at Louisiana Tech University where he promoted clinical research and medical device development in the fields of opto-electronics, neuromodulation, and pharmacometrics. Throughout his career, he has published over 50 research articles in well-known scientific journals. His teaching over the past decade has focused on capstone courses and applied sciences, such as Medical Device Design, Applied Animal Physiology integrating digital signal processing, Biomedical Optics, and Nanomedicine.  Prior to moving to academia, Patrick led several medical device development projects while serving as PI on numerous NSF (SBIR), NIH (STTR), and NIST (ATP) funded industry projects.
