Dr. Walker is Professor Emeritus of Biomedical Engineering at Tulane University, having served as the Department Chair prior to becoming Maker-In-Chief at Tulane's maker space.
Dr. Walker's areas of specialization include biomedical electronics and manufacturing technology.  His research interests include neural stimulation and implantable monitoring devices. Â
In addition to his academic duties, Dr. Walker has served as a consultant to multiple medical device companies and has served as a reviewer for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Center for Devices and Radiological Health. He has also served as a member of the the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation's Neurosurgery Committee Implantable Neurostimulators Working Group, which was responsible for the U.S. adoption of ANSI/AAMI/ISO 14708-3:2008.
