The Stage I implant is a procedure in which percutaneous SCS leads are temporarily implanted to allow assessment of whether the patient will respond to this therapy. An external stimulator generator is used at this stage.
The Stage II implantation is a surgical procedure in which either percutaneous or surgical leads are permanently implanted under the skin and an implantable generator is inserted.
