How long does the therapy last?

Pain relief from SCS therapy can potentially last as long as the implant is functional. Battery longevity is anticipated to be greater than 8 years and the battery may be replaced during a minor surgery. The leads may encounter mechanical failure over extended service and this may degrade performance. While the leads are designed to be permanent, these may also be replaced through a surgical procedure.

For unknown reasons, some patients experience a decline in pain relief efficacy over time. This may respond to actions such as a stimulation "holiday" or Wavegate's proprietary RDS stimulation paradigm.
